Junior Sparks Passes the Torch to Cherita O’dell
Last year, Barbados real estate ace, Junior Sparks, became the first-ever recipient of the George Ramsay Memorial Award. This award is given by the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association to the individual who best demonstrates genuine real estate excellence throughout the year in Barbados.
The award was created to honor George Ramsay, a legend of the Barbados Real Estate industry. Ramsay ran his business, Ramsay Real Estate, on the island for many years and grew it into one of Barbados’ pre-eminent real estate firms. Junior Sparks won the award last year due to his impressive track record of selling some of Barbados’ most exclusive properties and creating fantastic deals for locals and ex-pats alike.
In addition to his success, Junior also displayed the values that the award stands for, which include: integrity, hard work, and honesty. Winning this award was a major milestone for Junior’s career, and now he is passing the torch to his colleague Cherita O’dell.
Like Junior, Cherita O’dell has been given this award by the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association for demonstrating the values that George Ramsay was known for and for having a track record of outstanding success. Cherita regularly sells developments, residential property, luxury property, commercial property, and executive and villa rentals. She has developed a reputation for being one of the best real estate agents in the nation.
From Tragedy to Success
Before Cherita O’dell got her start in real estate, she was an Olympic representative for Barbados. However, after qualifying for the long jump at the 1996 Centennial Games in Atlanta, she slipped on the take-off board and tore her leg in three places. This experience could have stopped Cherita’s momentum and sent her into a downward spiral. However, she remained determined and rose from the ashes to create a new career.
Using her warrior mentality, Cherita became a public speaker, a life coach, a hotel sales manager, and eventually a real estate agent. Throughout her journey, she has learned to overcome obstacles, to remain persistent, and to keep chasing her dreams no matter what! Her positive attitude and her ambition have helped her to rise to the very top of the Barbados real estate industry.
Cherita’s inspiring journey and her ability to turn tragedy into impressive success have helped her to stand out from the other real estate agents and to win this award.
What’s Next for Cherita?
In addition to focusing on her thriving real estate career, Cherita O’dell has worked as an executive producer on a number of radio and television programs. She will continue to work on these projects and keep working to live a purpose-driven life with God at the helm. Cherita thrives on working hard, being a creative problem solver, and helping as many people as possible. She is loving her life and she plans to keep it that way indefinitely. Cherita hopes that winning the George Ramsay Memorial Award is just one important milestone among many that she will experience over the next few decades.
